About the position

This 20 hours/week Position will provide assistance to the AEC and CAD Faculty and students over the course of the AY 2023-24. The role involves maintaining open Studio 104 hours during the Fall and Spring Semesters for students registered and matriculating in the Architectural Technology, CAD, and EGG programs to utilize equipment and digital software located there in order to facilitate completion of assigned coursework outside of class meeting times. This includes regular dusting and superficial cleaning of work surfaces, organization and maintenance of makerspace materials and tools, and familiarization of students with Studio 104 use protocols. Additionally, the Assistant will develop skills and knowledge base to employ the Laser Cutter and 3D Printers in the service of Architectural Technology-CAD-EGG coursework, and will help to orient Faculty in the use of these devices for Fall and Spring Semester courses when the need arises. The position also includes providing administrative assistance as needed for the Chair and Faculty of the Architectural Technology program, which involves maintenance of supplies and general order of the Digital lab, printing, scanning, and filing, maintenance of the Architectural Technology and CAD library resources, and occasional assistance of students accessing the software located in the Digital Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining open Studio 104 hours during the Fall and Spring Semesters for students.

Requirements

  • No previous work experience required.
  • Working understanding of general IT systems and applications, including Windows and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Mature, responsible attitude towards safety and security issues.
  • Ability to take initiative when needed.
  • Demonstrated accountability and judgment in roles of responsibility.
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with peers and supervisors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of or competencies in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of or competencies in Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of or competencies in Revit.
  • Knowledge of or competencies in SketchUp.
