Student Services Specialist-Tutoring Coordinator

About the position

The Student Services Specialist-Tutoring Coordinator at the University of North Texas - Health Science Center is responsible for coordinating tutoring services through the Center for Academic Performance. This role involves collaboration with various offices and programs, recruitment and training of tutors, and ensuring the effective delivery of academic support to students. The position is hybrid, requiring both on-campus and remote work, and emphasizes the importance of building strong relationships and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and train tutors for all academic programs.
• Maintain accurate records for tutoring hours and approve payroll.
• Assess programs and activities for continuous quality improvement.
• Develop and maintain in-person and online modules for tutor training.
• Develop online resources for tutors.
• Support in researching, developing, and implementing appropriate academic support activities for HSC students.
• Collaborate with academic programs to provide appropriate tutoring resources for students.
• Coordinate and verify large group and drop-in tutoring sessions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to build strong relationships and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to organize work effectively and prioritize objectives.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills across all modalities.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
• Ability to work effectively with students and faculty.
• Previous experience in higher education.
