About the position

The Student Ministry Director/Pastor at Montgomery Community Church (MCC) is responsible for leading and managing the Student Ministry from a pastoral, biblical, and operational perspective. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ministry, developing strategies to engage students in their faith, and fostering a community that encourages students to know, love, and live like Jesus. The director will work collaboratively with a team to create meaningful worship, equipping, and missional environments for students in grades 7 through 12.

Responsibilities

  • Provide organizational, teaching, and spiritual leadership for students and associated ministry teams.
  • Ensure age-appropriate, authentic teaching that engages students.
  • Develop opportunities for meaningful involvement in worship, equipping, and missional environments.
  • Create age-appropriate worship environments that captivate students.
  • Establish equipping opportunities essential for missional living.
  • Encourage students to engage in missional lifestyles and develop ministry-specific opportunities.
  • Recruit and train lay leaders and volunteers for effective ministry implementation.
  • Equip and disciple ministry leaders and volunteers.
  • Facilitate parenting events to equip parents as primary disciple makers.
  • Assist in creating student ministry operating and capital budgets.
  • Manage labor and spending within approved budget parameters.
  • Build relationships with the community and local school districts.
  • Support the faith tenets and cultural expectations of MCC.
  • Foster strong relationships with church staff, ministry partners, and parents.
  • Ensure the safety of students at all programs and events.
  • Provide pastoral care to students and families.
  • Grow and develop leadership gifts through training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Meet the character qualities described of a spiritual leader in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Agreement with and support of MCC Constitution, Statement of Faith, Mission, and Vision.
  • Demonstrated leadership in student ministry.
  • Ability to develop and organize a ministry team of staff and volunteers.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, ministry, or related field required.
  • Knowledge of developmental and faith stages for students.
  • Experience leading in spiritual formation or Christian education preferred.
  • Strong managerial, coaching, and leadership skills with exceptional relational ability.
  • Ability to create a positive and intentional leadership culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading in the spiritual formation area of Students and/or Christian education preferred.
  • Preference for candidates who are married with children and demonstrate discipleship within their home.
