About the position
The Student Intern, Mechanical Engineer (Power Production) role at Tucson Electric Power is designed for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. The intern will assist in documenting existing systems and supporting the development and implementation of Power Plant projects. This position offers part-time hours during the school year and full-time hours during breaks, requiring on-site presence at the Power Plant.
Responsibilities
- Review and submit Engineering Documents to assist in the completion of projects.
- Utilize Engineering documents to ensure properly labeled plant equipment according to TEP standards.
- Create system drawing packages for established processes to expedite troubleshooting.
- Review field equipment in comparison with engineering drawings to ensure correctness.
- Assist the Engineering group in routine problem solving using fundamental principles of mathematics and physics.
Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Must have an expected graduation date of May 2025 or later.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to protect highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Must be able to meet deadlines.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
