About The Position

STV is seeking a Structural Group Leader to spearhead our growing Transportation Structural team in Chicago. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will be responsible for the strategic growth, operational excellence, and technical delivery of highway and transit structures projects. You will act as a liaison with key clients like IDOT, CDOT, Metra, and CTA , ensuring STV remains at the forefront of the Chicago infrastructure market. Qualifications Education: B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering, M.S. preferred. Licensure: Active Illinois Structural Engineer, S.E. license is required. Experience: 15+ years in structural engineering with 5 years in a supervisory leadership capacity. Expertise: Deep familiarity with AASHTO LRFD, AREMA, and IDOT, CDOT standards. Project or task management experience such as scope development, scheduling, client management, resource management, and invoicing. Proposal development and business development experience Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation, IDOT, Illinois Tollway, City of Chicago, local municipalities, and Class I Railroads - preferred Good oral and written communication skills Essential Functions Team Leadership: Direct a team of engineers and technicians; manage resource allocation, professional development, and performance mentoring. Business Development: Support the Client Service Teams in identifying opportunities, leading proposal efforts, and maintaining client relationships; Represent STV at industry events through attendance or participation in professional organizations. Project Governance: Oversee the technical quality and financial performance of a diverse portfolio of structural projects, ensuring high-quality delivery. Operational Management: Manage group budgets, utilization targets, and recruitment to scale the team in alignment with national growth strategies. Requirements
