About the position

The Strategic Communications Lead at HunaTek will coordinate a team responsible for designing and managing communications, social media, and outreach strategies for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This role involves supporting the Office of Global Material Security and the Office of Radiological Security in their mission to protect and manage radioactive sources globally. The lead will oversee various communication initiatives, ensuring alignment with programmatic goals and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customer in executing and evaluating their overall communications strategy and maintaining communications guidelines.
  • Coordinate task completion across a diverse team to ensure communications and outreach strategies support programmatic goals.
  • Identify and implement ways to strategically position the technical communications portfolio for increased internal support.
  • Support customer events by organizing, branding, and producing informational materials for attendees.
  • Manage a comprehensive communications tracker and file management system for proper reviews and accessibility.
  • Organize and lead regular communications coordination meetings with stakeholders to assess task progress.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in a strategic communications role developing program-level plans and project-specific communications.
  • Minimum of one year in a customer-facing role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications programming, implementation, and evaluations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to take initiative and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Outstanding oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn the customer's business operations and maintain current understanding of changes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in international nuclear nonproliferation and security communications.
  • Ability to acquire a DOE Q clearance.
