About the position

The Store Protection Specialist at Ross Stores, Inc. is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for both customers and associates. This role involves providing a visible presence at store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud, and ensuring compliance with loss prevention directives. The Specialist is expected to engage with customers in a friendly manner while monitoring for potential theft indicators and supporting store leadership in minimizing operational shortages.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible presence at store entrances/exits to deter theft and maintain safety.
• Greet customers courteously and assist them with inquiries.
• Monitor the sales floor for potential theft indicators and suspicious behavior.
• Assist store leadership in maintaining a safe environment by removing clutter and ensuring clear emergency exits.
• Educate associates on loss prevention initiatives and proper checkout procedures.
• Communicate effectively with store and loss prevention leadership regarding theft indicators and trends.

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
• One year of retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
• One year of loss prevention/security training preferred.
• Active Security Guard License preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and proven conflict resolution abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in retail loss prevention or security roles.
• Familiarity with loss prevention best practices and procedures.
