About the position

The Store Manager at Variety Stores LLC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring maximum sales and profit while adhering to company policies and procedures. This role requires strong leadership skills to manage staff, maintain inventory control, and provide excellent customer service. The Store Manager is expected to work long hours, typically between 45 to 52 hours per week, and must effectively communicate with district and regional management regarding store operations and personnel matters.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an outgoing and enthusiastic rapport with store customers, providing good service and assistance.
  • Successfully complete the Management Training Program.
  • Employ and properly train a qualified Assistant Manager with the advice and approval of the District Manager.
  • Train other store personnel with the assistance of the Assistant Manager and District Manager's approval.
  • Consult with the District Manager on personnel or operational problems or opportunities.
  • Control inventory shrinkage to within 2.5% of annual sales, with disciplinary action for higher shrinkage rates.
  • Maintain a Shrink Check Test score of 80 or above, with disciplinary action for lower scores.
  • Enforce Company Safety Policies and maintain good relationships with local law enforcement for security matters.
  • Complete and supervise weekly schedules for all store personnel within the assigned payroll budget.
  • Assign duties and train all employees to perform their assignments according to company procedures.
  • Inform all employees of company policies and enforce adherence to these policies.
  • Transmit payroll information accurately and timely per policy.
  • Maintain a well-balanced and in-stock merchandise inventory, including seasonal distribution.
  • Ensure cleanliness throughout all areas of the store and maintain organized merchandise displays.
  • Maintain organized office and stock room areas.
  • Verify all receipts of merchandise according to company policy and report any discrepancies.
  • Supervise the pricing of all merchandise according to company procedures.
  • Keep the District Manager informed of defective merchandise, fast and slow sellers, and vendor shipment problems.
  • Total responsibility for the store cash fund and sales receipts, ensuring cash handling procedures are enforced.
  • Complete all reports, records, and inventories accurately according to company policy.
  • Notify the District Manager of any absence during scheduled work hours.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all store sales and company information.
  • Receive approval from the District Manager for all expenditures over $50.00.
  • Work designated hours as required by the District Manager.
  • Perform any other jobs or duties as assigned.
  • Implement company programs accurately and timely to maximize benefits for associates and customers.
  • Project positive leadership through appearance, professionalism, communication skills, knowledge, judgment, and morale of store employees.
  • Handle count bulletins, markdowns, and on-hand requests accurately and timely.
  • Update on-hand merchandise regularly to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Call in deposit information daily as required by corporate.
  • Order merchandise weekly to maintain stock and maximize sales.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of related experience in store management
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
