About The Position

The Stockroom Aide perform duties necessary for the daily functions of the Stockroom. To ensure that supply items are ready for issue to the requisitioning units. This will include distribution of inventory and non-inventory items to the customers which includes UHSH Departments and all auxiliary clinics. Providing accurate inventory of all areas in the department. Order, receive, stock shelves, pick orders, transfer stock, count physical inventory and record data using computer system. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic, such as: addition subtraction, division and multiplication.
  • Ability to operate all types of Material Handling equipment.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for duration of shift when working
  • Must be able to count and read English
  • Must have basic MS and computer skills
  • Must be able to move weight up to 30Lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Stockroom experience.
  • Knowledgeable in inventories.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches and monitors all functions of the SPD (new employees) based on depth knowledge of scientific principles of microbiology, decontamination, and sterilization.
  • Demonstrates understanding of regulatory agency standards.
  • Picks us and receives used instruments and patient equipment from the operating room, clinical departments, ancillary areas, and clinics in a manner that prevents cross contamination in the hospital and to reduce the risk of injury (exposure) to workers, (OSHA standard).
  • Demonstrates independent function in decontamination procedures in accordance with standard precautions.
  • Ensures that sterility is achieved by choosing the correct method of sterilization, the correct cycle, monitoring the sterilizer function, chemically and biology testing sterilization equipment, and interpreting/documenting mechanical and testing results.
  • Ensures procedural instrumentation, power equipment, surgical implants and patient medical devices are assembled, inspected for proper function, and appropriately packaged for disinfection and sterilization.
  • Ensures that patient equipment is in appropriate working order for utilization in direct care.
  • Ensures that sterility and aeration is achieved, and safe practices (ensure to exposure) are performed in utilizing the Ethylene Oxide Sterilization process.
  • Performs, observes, and assesses safe work practices, regulatory compliance and emergency procedures related to the handling of Ethylene Oxide gas.
  • Must maintain certification (annual testing) in the safe operation of ETO sterilizers and wear personnel environment badges per policy and OSHA standard.
  • Maintains sterile items and equipment in anticipation for distribution to various departments on request.
  • Distributes and re-stocks par level carts, crash carts and trauma carts.
  • Acts as a technical resource for customers.
  • Deliver item/s to requesting units
  • Revise, count, and replace missing items from supply drawers, carts and other related equipment
  • Enter orders into stock system using computer program
  • Scan devices and drawers into tracking system when delivering and or receiving
  • Assist in maintaining inventory Par Levels
  • Maintain stock clean and inspect for outdates
  • Breakdown delivery of supplies and store accordingly
  • Maintain area within regulatory standard of clean, clutter free, organized and stocked
  • Communicates to management and staff alike for needs, issues, and or recalls.
