About the position

The Steward/Dishwasher position is a full-time role based in Wheeling, WV, focused on maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. The primary responsibility of the steward is to ensure that all dishes, glassware, and cooking utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized, contributing to the overall efficiency of the food and beverage operations. This role is essential in supporting the kitchen staff by providing them with the necessary clean tools and equipment to prepare and serve food effectively. In this position, you will be responsible for sorting and rinsing dirty dishes, glassware, and tableware, placing them in racks to be sent through the dish machine. You will also need to sort and stack clean dishes, ensuring they are carried to the cook's line and other storage areas as required. Additionally, you will wash pots, pans, and trays by hand, remove trash and garbage to the dumpster, and clean and roll/unroll mats as part of your daily duties. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is crucial, which includes sweeping and mopping floors regularly. The steward will also be tasked with filling and emptying soak-tubs with cleaning and sanitizing solutions, ensuring that all kitchen equipment is kept in optimal condition. This role may involve other duties as directed by the kitchen management, making it a versatile position that requires attention to detail and a strong work ethic. The steward will work full-time hours, which may include day shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational needs of the food and beverage service.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 10-25 pounds on a regular basis.
