About the position
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical procedures by properly sterilizing and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to aseptic techniques, contributing to the overall success of the healthcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects and report any issues to the appropriate personnel
- Assemble instrument trays and surgical packs according to established protocols
- Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for procedures
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment
Requirements
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with sterile processing techniques and aseptic practices
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Nice-to-haves
- Sterile processing: 2 years (Preferred)
- CRCST Certification (Preferred)
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
