About the position

The Sterile Processing Technician at PeaceHealth is responsible for the cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing of surgical instruments and equipment. This role involves operating sterilization equipment, inspecting and assembling instruments, and ensuring the availability of supplies for surgical cases. The position is part-time and variable, requiring flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, assemble, and distribute supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgical cases.
• Re-stock inventory as needed.
• Clean, decontaminate, disassemble, and sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
• Clean and maintain department equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician preferred.
• National Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD, or other nationally recognized certifying body required within 1 year.
• CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor if working in PHMG required within 1 year.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office applications required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a medical-related role for at least three months preferred.
• Good customer service skills and good interpersonal skills.
