The Sterile Processing Technician Certified will promote a cooperative and professional work environment through effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. This role is responsible for cleaning and decontaminating surgical instruments and equipment using approved methods and equipment, inspecting reusable instruments to ensure functionality, cleanliness, and compliance with standards, and sorting, assembling, and packaging instruments and surgical sets accurately. The technician will operate sterilization equipment to produce sterile products and reduce the risk of nosocomial infections, ensure adequate availability of sterilization supplies and preparation solutions, and perform daily checks of autoclaves and Steris units using biological indicators and air removal test kits, maintaining accurate sterilization logs, records, and charts. This position requires maintaining current technical knowledge and competency in sterile processing practices, providing age- and developmentally appropriate care, and collaborating with department staff to ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies are available for scheduled procedures.
