About the position

PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician - Central Services for a Per Diem/Relief position. The role involves operating autoclaves and other sterilization equipment to clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. The technician will also be responsible for inspecting and assembling instruments, trays, and packs, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are ready for surgical cases.

Responsibilities

  • Operate autoclaves and sterilization equipment to clean and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Inspect and assemble instruments, trays, and packs for surgical cases.
  • Coordinate, assemble, and distribute supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
  • Re-stock inventory and maintain cleanliness of the department equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred.
  • National Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD or other recognized certifying body required within 1 year.
  • CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor required within 1 year if working in PHMG.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician, Dental Technician, Surgical Support Aide, or other medical-related technician role with responsibilities including cleaning and sterilizing surgical instrumentation.
