About The Position

The Institute for Trauma Recovery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a data analyst/statistician with a master’s degree or higher to join a collaborative team of investigators. The role involves performing statistical analyses to drive new discoveries aimed at assisting trauma survivors. A significant focus will be on analyzing diverse longitudinal data from the approximately $35 million AURORA study, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and other partners. This study involved individuals presenting to emergency departments after trauma, followed longitudinally for one year using advanced methods and a comprehensive battery of assessments including self-report, neurocognitive, physiologic, digital phenotype, psychosocial, neuroimaging, and genomic markers. The statistician will also analyze data from other ongoing R01 studies and clinical trials within the institute.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree level or higher.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability as a scientific writer.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced statistical analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and perform statistical analyses new to them.
  • Expert knowledge of R and other software packages.
  • Ability to analyze diverse longitudinal data collected as part of research studies.
  • Prior experience publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Prior experience preparing other academic, grant, or stakeholder-facing materials.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in a social, applied, or related science discipline.
  • Prior experience with advanced statistical methods (e.g., multilevel modeling, latent/class cluster analysis, regression-based methods).
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques.
  • Proficiency with both basic and advanced statistical analyses in clinical or epidemiological research.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analyses to gain new discoveries to help trauma survivors.
  • Assist with analyses of diverse longitudinal data collected as part of the AURORA study.
  • Analyze data from longitudinal data collected as part of many other past and current R01 studies going on in the institute.
  • Analyze clinical trial data.
