About the position

The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 33 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children county-wide. We are committed to working with our school districts, other agencies, families and the community at large by providing services, information and leadership, always with a focus on students.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the instruction of children
  • Assists in presentation of activity plans
  • Assists in creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating student environment
  • Assists in supervising children in play and developmentally age-appropriate activities
  • Assists in the preparation of records and reports
  • Participates in collecting evidence for student assessment (Desired Results Developmental Profile - Revised (DRDP-R) data and/or data entry)
  • Assists in filling out DRDP-R forms
  • Maintains positive and professional working relationships with support staff, parents, and the community
  • Attends meetings as applicable
  • Reads SBCSS emails regularly to receive pertinent information
  • Supervises assistants and volunteers
  • Performs full scope of State Preschool Teacher duties in the absence of the teacher
  • Performs related duties as required

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit - OR - transcripts verifying applicable units with the ability to obtain a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit upon employment
  • Possession of valid Pediatric CPR and valid Pediatric First Aid certificates (must be in-person training or hybrid, 100% online training is not acceptable)
