About The Position

Cherry Bekaert’s State and Local Tax (SALT) team is seeking a Senior Associate to support the delivery of high‑quality income tax consulting and compliance services for our clients. In this role, you will collaborate with an experienced SALT team, work on complex multistate tax matters, and help clients navigate evolving state and local tax regulations while identifying meaningful tax‑saving opportunities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Law.
3+ years of experience with federal and state business income tax preparation in a public accounting firm, industry, or Department of Revenue environment.
Strong knowledge of state and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously in a deadline‑driven environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and tax preparation and research software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex tax concepts.
Eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Address state and local tax (SALT) questions received from offices across the firm, serving as a technical resource on multistate income and franchise tax matters.
Prepare and review multistate income and franchise tax returns for corporate and pass‑through entities.
Deliver SALT income tax consulting services, including nexus reviews, sourcing analyses, exposure analyses, voluntary disclosure agreements, and other SALT‑related projects.
Research state and local tax issues using statutes, regulations, case law, and other authoritative guidance to support client positions and recommendations.
Identify tax‑saving opportunities and develop strategies to help clients minimize state and local tax liabilities.
Stay current on multistate tax developments through continuing professional education and monitoring legislative and regulatory changes.
Collaborate with team members to develop and deliver SALT presentations and thought leadership for internal and external audiences.
Support the development and coaching of staff associates or interns and assist with other accounting and engagement‑related duties as assigned.
