About the position

The position involves assisting in enhancing the training and improving the skills of health care providers in various areas such as communication, diagnosis, physical exam techniques, and other skills as outlined in the training objectives and outcomes. This role is crucial for health care providers, students in the healthcare field, and employees who interact with patients or their families.

Responsibilities

• Undergoes training to learn how to present the medical history, simulate physical symptoms, and portray the emotions of the patient.
• Provides immediate verbal feedback on performance to learners.
• Evaluates learner performance based on an evaluation checklist specific to the case.
• May portray the roles of family members or others to allow learners to practice communication skills.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• High School graduates preferred.
• Some acting skills preferred or a desire to act.
• Must complete application and orientation requirements for DH staff.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Physical requirements consist of standing, sitting, writing, and speaking.
• Successful completion of training program for standardized patients by the patient safety training center before working in the role of a standardized patient required.
