About the position

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack to join our Home Loans team. In this role, you will help build cutting-edge technology systems that support our lending business. You will collaborate with a team of engineers empowered to make technical decisions that directly impact the success of the business and our SoFi members. On our team, you will be in the middle of it all - implementing new functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting mission-critical systems. You'll face and solve a wide range of challenges: technical, product, and operational, shaping your personal growth and career along the way, as well as helping mold and grow the junior members of the team. A successful Personal Loans platform is instrumental in the future and success of the company, and you have the opportunity to help shape and guide that future and exponentially grow the customer base of this product.

Responsibilities

• Utilize object-oriented programming languages to build performant and scalable backend applications within a cloud-based microservice architecture.
• Shape the technical architecture of our products.
• Own and develop technical solutions for new product requirements.
• Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment.
• Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies.
• Drive operational excellence in our business processes to enhance service quality.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product management, operations, and peer technical teams to deliver impactful products.
• Mentor team members and foster a learning environment within the team.
• Work with our core technology stack: Java / Kotlin / React / Microservices / Spring Boot / AWS / Postgres.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
• 6+ years of programming experience, ideally on a modern microservice stack.
• Expertise in Java, Kotlin, Spring, MongoDB, and AWS.
• Experience with modern Java frameworks, REST APIs, and relational databases.
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership; capable of driving a project from inception to completion.
• Willingness to mentor and collaborate with others.
• Experience working in a team coding environment, refining designs, participating in code reviews, and managing requests.
• Passionate about broadening your technical skill set, experimenting with new ideas, and teaching others.
• Effective communication skills.
• Desire to grow, learn, and collaborate with a team of engineers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with React / Typescript / GraphQL, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, cloud infrastructure, Terraform, and CI/CD.
• Experience with C#, .Net Framework, and Windows UI libraries.
• Familiarity with cloud-native services, especially AWS services such as DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, S3, and Athena.
• Fintech, finance, or real estate industry experience.
• Experience with safe deployment practices.
