About the position

The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services systematically and continuously collects and assesses data related to patient health status to develop, execute and evaluate the plan of care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services utilizes evidence to drive clinical decisions and practice related to individual and population health. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services establishes goals and strategies for meeting care coordination needs across settings with the patient, family, and/or other care providers. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and fiscal accountability in planning and delivering care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services delegates and supervises care in accordance with the WI Nurse Practice. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives and assumes responsibility for their professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform/direct ACLS
  • Independent rhythm interpretation and defibrillation
  • Administration of advanced lifesaving medications
  • Independent, templated ('RN-only') visits for patient assessment, with action taken based on established protocols and/or clinical practice standards using clinical judgement to determine intervention timing/specifics.
  • Specialty patient education where certification/additional certificate is required for role
  • Sedation
  • Telemetry monitoring & interpretation/management of rhythm changes
  • Assisting with complex procedures
  • Advanced wound therapy (VACs, debridement, etc.)
  • Central line management (TPA administration) and maintenance (dressing / cap changes, access / flushing)
  • Device interrogation and interpretation with resultant action
  • Complex infusions (concurrent infusions, hazardous medication administration, blood and blood products, etc.)
  • Patient care coordination, direct patient care, patient education, telephone triage/eVisits, and performing/assisting with minor procedures
  • May float to other areas on as needed for operations need
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of relevant nursing experience
  • Nursing licensure required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire

Nice-to-haves

  • Oncology nursing certification or completion of 12 hours oncology-focused CE education/year on an ongoing basis
