About the position

RiverView Health, a community owned, membership based non-profit organization, is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join our team. We are the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN, operating a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center, and several primary care and specialty clinics. The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for providing pharmacy services to the hospital, ancillary clinics, and retail pharmacy operations. This position requires working one weekend a month, rotating holidays, and PRN shifts as able. The Staff Pharmacist will work under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and will have considerable freedom in fulfilling job responsibilities. In the absence of the Director, the Staff Pharmacist may need to perform essential duties of the Director.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately review and interpret medication orders.
  • Prepare accurate and complete patient/customer profiles.
  • Review profiles for correct drug, dosage, and route of administration.
  • Ensure that no drug-drug interactions exist.
  • Ensure that patients/customers are not allergic to any prescribed medication.
  • Perform professional pharmacy duties including safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution, and control of all drugs.
  • Notify appropriate medical/nursing staff whenever drug therapy is questionable.
  • Support and participate in pharmacy activities recommended by TJC or other regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School.
  • Must hold a current Minnesota Board of Pharmacy License.
  • Current American Heart BLS and ACLS certifications are required; if not currently certified, training will be provided and certifications must be obtained within 4 months from date of hire.
  • Must understand the importance of positive communication with patients/customers, medical staff, general public, other departments, and co-workers.
