About the position
The Staff Pharmacist position at Trinity Health involves ensuring prompt and accurate pharmaceutical services for patients and healthcare staff. The role includes interpreting and evaluating medication orders, dispensing medications, supervising pharmacy technicians, and maintaining accurate records. The pharmacist will also consult with healthcare professionals regarding drug therapy and monitor the quality of pharmaceutical services provided.
Responsibilities
- Review electronic/written medication orders for clarity, appropriate dosage, and potential interactions.
- Supervise the preparation of patient medications, including controlled substances and IV admixtures.
- Interact with interdisciplinary teams and healthcare professionals to ensure safe medication practices.
- Direct and monitor pharmacy technicians in the packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications.
- Operate the outpatient computer system and manage outpatient charity prescriptions.
- Participate in drug therapy monitoring and evaluate various drug interactions and appropriateness of therapy.
- Maintain departmental medication inventory levels and ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Consult with physicians and nursing staff on drug selection and safe use of medications.
- Maintain records as required by department and legal standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and licensure in the State of Iowa.
- Ability to work independently and set priorities.
- Basic typing skills and familiarity with computers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
