About the position
The Staff Nurse position at Balch Springs Nursing Home involves providing comprehensive nursing care to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and regulations. The role includes monitoring residents' physical and emotional status, administering medications, and coordinating care plans while promoting residents' rights and safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review medical records and nurse's notes, and assess residents' physical and emotional status.
- Monitor resident activity and evaluate nursing care according to professional standards.
- Coordinate and assist with new admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.
- Transcribe physician's telephone orders and communicate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident status.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician, ensuring compliance with nursing standards and facility policies.
- Lead and monitor licensed and other professionals, providing feedback and coaching as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing written care plans for individual residents.
- Participate in in-service training and maintain professional competence.
- Monitor the environment and care practices to ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
- Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be CPR Certified.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to complete continuing education hours as required by the State.
