About the position
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Medical Surgical Unit - G6 in Bangor, ME. This full-time position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, with a work schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for delivering patient care according to the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act and Northern Light Health Standards. The role involves planning and evaluating nursing care for patients and families, addressing their physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The position is eligible for the EMMC Professional Advancement Commitment to Excellence (PACE) career ladder and offers a sign-on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe and effective patient care using best practices during hand-off communication.
- Performs and documents systematic assessments according to established criteria.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with patients, families, and staff.
- Utilizes theoretical knowledge to operationalize care.
- Documents patient care accurately and completely.
- Completes population-specific mandatory education competencies.
- Demonstrates awareness of evidence-based practice.
- Communicates effectively with patients, family members, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Implements the plan of care and identifies resources to meet patient care needs.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
- Takes responsibility for meeting education and mandatory programs.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification is required.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
