About the position

The Staff Development Registered Nurse (RN) at The Brookwood Community is responsible for developing and implementing training programs for staff, particularly in areas such as medication administration and electronic health records. This role is crucial for onboarding new community members and ensuring high-quality patient care for adults with disabilities. The position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate various staff shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop training programs and tools for medication administration, electronic health records, and First Aid training.
  • Evaluate risk management reports to create a competency program.
  • Onboard new community members to The Brookwood Community.
  • Provide staff training during various shifts as required.
  • Administer high-quality patient care and medication as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for citizens.

Requirements

  • Current Texas RN license.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, particularly with adults with intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders.
  • BLS Certification (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in geriatrics, home health, physical & rehabilitation medicine, primary care, and wound care.
