About the position

The YL Staff Associate I position is designed to provide both formal training and direct field ministry experience to effectively carry out and manage Young Life ministry. The role involves working directly with students in the Southern York Area and includes various ministry functions such as spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The staff associate will engage in spiritual growth, lead teams, recruit and train leaders, raise financial support, and manage ministry operations while adhering to Young Life policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life.
  • Seek and maintain relationships within a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership regularly.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
  • Assist in training leaders and developing a yearly ministry strategy.
  • Raise financial support and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community.
  • Plan and execute area fundraising events.
  • Engage in all levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct Young Life club and Campaigners.
  • Implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to Young Life policies and maintain professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and review them regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in direct ministry.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • College degree preferred.
