About the position

The Staff Analysis/Architect Engineer - Hydraulics position at Northrop Grumman involves the development and integration of aircraft hydraulic subsystems. This role requires extensive experience in hydraulic system design, analysis, and testing, contributing to the advancement of aeronautics technology. The position is fully onsite in Melbourne, Florida, and is contingent on program award funding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform responsible engineer activities related to hydraulic system/component design and development, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct system-related analysis, such as performance simulation, to support hydraulic subsystem development and integration with other aircraft subsystems.
  • Plan and execute system-level tests, including verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
  • Attend internal program, customer, and supplier technical exchange meetings and formal program milestone reviews to provide and obtain progress status updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a related STEM discipline and 12 years of relevant experience; OR MS in a related STEM discipline and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience related to the development and integration of hydraulic systems in commercial or military aircraft applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer disciplines.
  • Experience with aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, and test and verification for advanced aircraft.
  • Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems.
  • Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software.
  • Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516.
  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
  • Experience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer relations.
