About The Position

At VetClaims.AI, we are committed to simplifying the VA claims process and advocating for veterans with clarity, speed, and integrity. Every team member plays a role in supporting that mission and helping veterans obtain the benefits they have earned. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable Staff Accountant to join our growing remote organization. This is not a traditional accounting role with the same routine every day. As part of a fast-paced technology company, you will help manage the company's internal accounting operations while navigating evolving business needs, multi-state compliance requirements, and new challenges as they arise. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, enjoys solving problems independently, and thrives in an environment where priorities can shift quickly. You will work closely with leadership and the HR team to ensure accurate financial operations and compliance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and GAAP principles.
  • Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP/accounting systems.
  • Experience with spend management and corporate card platforms such as Brex, Ramp, or comparable tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities shift and new challenges emerge regularly.
  • Enjoy researching issues, navigating regulatory requirements, and independently finding solutions.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and take pride in producing reliable financial information.
  • Proactively identify issues, follow through on responsibilities, and help improve processes as the company grows.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in internal corporate accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in remote-first or technology-focused organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR to support payroll processing and reconciliation.
  • Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies as needed.
  • Review, process, and reconcile incoming invoices.
  • Verify expenses and ensure timely payment of company obligations.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Perform account reconciliations and month-end accounting tasks.
  • Support financial reporting and internal accounting processes.
  • Manage state tax and business registration requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate registrations and compliance filings with state Departments of Revenue, Labor, and other agencies.
  • Research and assist with international compliance requirements as the company expands into new markets.
  • Collaborate with external tax professionals as needed.
