This position is responsible to perform accounting duties, including analysis, projections, and forecasts, in support of general ledger and accounts receivable functions.
Responsibilities
Responsible for accounting functions in support of general ledger and accounts receivable functions.
Process student loans and scholarships in accordance with established guidelines.
Process billings, bookstore charges, statements, cash receipt reports, and adjustments through the College database system.
Process payments through the College database system.
Review and verify the accuracy of processed transactions by reviewing reports and screen displays.
Review general ledger account balances and transactions to verify accuracy, and record adjusting entries.
Review monthly internal expense charge backs for accuracy and record in the general ledger.
Verify catering chargebacks. Invoice clients for internal and external events.
Prepare and record cash receipt deposits in the general ledger.
Reconcile bank account statements to the general ledger.
Assist with coordination of College banking services and credit card services with various banking agencies.
Balance daily cash, check, and credit card transactions that have been processed through the College database system.
Handle contacts with students and employees that relate to billing, payments, deferments, loans, and grants.
Responsible for tracking returned student stipend checks to comply with federal, state, and other awarding agencies rules.
Completes monthly student and customer accounts receivable reconciliations.
Assists in the collection of student and customer account balances.
Complete additional general accounting support duties such as monthly loan reconciliations and inventory functions.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing of the College books.
Provide information and assistance to auditors.
Prepare reports, documents, letters, and other correspondence for the Accounting/Budgeting office staff.
Maintain appropriate records and files.
Answer student inquiries, and retrieve appropriate student information.
Maintain knowledge of accounting related federal, state, and other awarding agencies rules, regulations, guidelines, and other procedures.
Requirements
Associate degree in Accounting or related field of study required.
Two (2) years of related work experience required.
Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards.
