Responsibilities

  • Develop measurable and ambitious big goals for dramatically increasing student achievement for their classes.
  • Use the Common Core state standards to backwards plan and create Lesson Plans, Unit Plans, and Assessments.
  • Differentiate plans to support diverse learners in the classroom.
  • Invest scholars in working hard to achieve big goals within the classroom and throughout campus.
  • Engage and challenge scholars during practice time and ensure scholars are focused throughout their learning time.
  • Utilize effective strategies to check for understanding for all scholars and adjust methods based on scholar responses.
  • Give daily Exit Tickets and track data to inform instruction to best support scholars in the classroom.
  • Engage with families and ensure all stakeholders are aware of scholar data and progress.
  • Create a positive classroom culture focused on high expectations, respect, and equity.
  • Maintain scholar attention, support and manage scholar behavior, and create a classroom culture conducive to learning.
  • Create procedures and routines that support scholar learning and maximize time spent on learning.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and stakeholders to build up campus culture.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility by following processes, procedures, meeting deadlines, and maintaining professional dress.
  • Hold self to high expectations, be reflective, and continuously pursue feedback and progress in practice.
  • Attend and participate in school-wide events to promote stakeholder engagement and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid California Single Subject teaching credential in the applicable subject
  • Appropriate EL authorization to teach EL or SDAIE
  • Examples of a relentless drive and commitment to eliminate the disparity of educational quality that exists
  • Belief in and alignment with SHPS's mission
  • Criminal background clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding and experience working with the nuances of urban school environments and school culture
  • Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities (Spanish)
