About the position

The SSBO Radiologic Evaluator plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of castings through the interpretation of radiographs. This position requires the evaluator to utilize computer applications to analyze both film and electronically acquired radiographs, determining whether discrepancies meet customer specifications and the standards set by Precision Castparts Corp (PCC). The evaluator is responsible for assessing whether parts are acceptable or require repairs, marking and routing parts accordingly, and signing final reports that approve castings sent to customers. In this role, the evaluator will prepare for evaluations by reviewing specifications and radiographs, sorting radiographs by view for each part, and ensuring that the quality of images meets the required sensitivity and accuracy. The interpretation phase involves evaluating radiographic indications to identify any casting or welding discontinuities, determining their causes, and assessing whether they meet customer specifications. The evaluator will also be responsible for marking problem areas on parts needing repair, consulting with engineering when necessary, and signing off on reports for parts deemed acceptable. Additionally, the evaluator must adhere to safety regulations, handle hazardous waste as required, and maintain a clean and orderly work environment. Training and direction will be provided to less experienced personnel, and the evaluator may be required to perform various functions within the department, including those of radiographers and darkroom operators. Regular attendance and the ability to perform overtime as directed are essential for this position.
