About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of Java-based applications within a financial services environment. This position requires a strong background in cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform, and experience in troubleshooting JVM issues. The SRE will collaborate with application teams and stakeholders to enhance system performance and automate processes, contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Support Java-based applications in a RHEL environment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose JVM issues, including thread dumps and garbage collection.
• Manage version control systems using tools like Bitbucket, Git, and Artifactory.
• Conduct code reviews and document processes for knowledge transfer.
• Enhance and deploy automated processes to minimize human intervention.
• Utilize system automation and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Provide input to project meetings and assist in project planning.

Requirements

• 4 year college degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting Java-based applications in a RHEL environment.
• 2+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud platforms.
• Experience troubleshooting JVM issues, preferably with Java 17 and up.
• 3+ years of experience with version control system management in a Java-based environment.
• 3+ years of experience documenting processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of managing Linux OS (RHEL 6, 7 & 8) and using appropriate commands for application performance.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as shell, perl, python, ruby, JSON, XML, YAML.
• Experience with Agile SDLC.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of Git VCS.
• Experience with large financial services corporations or similar industries.
