About the position

CrowdStrike is seeking a backend software engineer to join their Ingestion group, which manages network communications event traffic between the security cloud and customer resources. This role involves working with ultra-high volume services, primarily written in Golang, and requires a strong understanding of network connections and protocols. The engineer will have the opportunity to design proprietary Cloud Protocols and collaborate closely with Falcon Sensor teams across various platforms. The position offers high autonomy and the chance to make a significant impact on CrowdStrike's mission to stop breaches.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement proprietary Cloud Protocols for network communications.
  • Collaborate with Falcon Sensor teams across multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android).
  • Manage ultra-high volume services and optimize performance.
  • Troubleshoot and pinpoint system failures across a pipeline of services.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable backend systems.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Over 7 years of experience in backend software development.
  • Experience building high volume services for cloud-delivered SaaS products.
  • Solid grounding in at least one cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to scale backend systems through sharding, partitioning, and horizontal scaling.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in implementing web servers and load balancers.
  • Authored successful open source libraries and projects.
  • Contributions to the open source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging).
  • Exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch.
  • Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
