About the position

As a Senior Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you'll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies pushing the boundaries to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers' high-value problems. You'll work with cross functional teams on interesting and challenging projects, contributing your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for next-generation semiconductor equipment.
  • Influence architectural and technology decisions and help drive the adoption of best industry practices in software development, testing, and maintainability.
  • Work closely with systems and hardware engineers to integrate software solutions with hardware components.
  • Interface with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, functional specification, solution development, testing, and support.
  • Navigate a dynamic work environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams and global counterparts to ensure the effective delivery of solutions.
  • Mentor junior team members to deliver results.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in programming, particularly in languages such as C++, C#, Java, or similar.
  • Capability to collaborate with hardware and systems/application teams to comprehend system requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals (Object-Oriented technology, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms).
  • Experience developing APIs and multi-threaded applications for distributed software systems.
  • Strong software diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team player mindset and motivated by team success.
  • Experience working in Semiconductor industry.
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or similar fields with 10+ years of experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus!
