About the position

HOK is currently seeking a Sr Project Manager to join our Sports, Recreation and Entertainment team in Kansas City. As a Sr Project Manager, you will be accountable for project financial performance and team communication, managing multiple Sports, Recreation and Entertainment type projects during all phases until completion. You will direct employees and consultants at all levels to ensure that proper steps and procedures are taken, and that work is completed as planned, budgeted, scheduled, and in conformance with the design intent. In this role, you will foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team, participating on and/or leading multiple project teams. You will assist senior management in developing and validating project scope and fee, budget, and scope of services during the marketing and contract development process. Additionally, you will assist in preparing project presentations and may participate and/or lead client presentations. Consistent and timely communication of project information to and from clients and the project team is essential. You will be responsible for managing projects using the Deltek Project Management system, completing work plans that include identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees and costs, as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned project. You will also assist senior management in the preparation and execution of consultant contracts, negotiate fees and contracts, and ensure that budgets have been developed to provide for Quality Management Program through the life of the Project. Incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects and fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices will be part of your responsibilities. You will work closely with the Project Architect to avoid or eliminate conflicts in schedule due to changes in various projects, plan, organize, and manage projects, and provide ongoing communication through team meetings, minutes, and update memos to the project team. Maintaining client relationships throughout the project is crucial, as you will keep clients apprised of project progress on a regular basis and initiate contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues. You will consult with clients to determine function and spatial requirements and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time. You will also participate in developing the annual business plan for the Regional Practice, identifying new business opportunities while developing current client relationships, and assisting in the development of fee proposals for marketing proposals. Lastly, you will provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff, defining staff requirements for projects as needed and making recommendations to senior management for staff promotions or terminations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years' experience in architectural practice with prior management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy.
  • Licensed Architect with current registration in your region preferred, if licensure is offered in your region.
  • NCARB registration preferred.
  • LEED AP or GA required within 6 months of employment.
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems and sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IDP).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope and possess strong hand and CAD drafting skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop, Primavera or MS Project, 3D Modeling software such as Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, Enscape, TwinMotion, and Rhino, Microsoft Office suite, Affinity software suite, Deltek Vision, and NewForma.
