About the position

The Sr. Project Engineer will provide technical leadership for capital projects at the Cedar Rapids plant, requiring extensive collaboration with various teams and stakeholders. This role involves managing project budgets, schedules, and construction management, as well as supporting the annual capital planning process and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Project Manager/Engineer on capital projects including overall project management, budget, schedule, construction management, start-up, conceptual phases, project close-out, scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, and check out.
  • Maintain close working relationships with R&D, quality, manufacturing, operations leadership, and financial operations.
  • Offer production support and troubleshooting assistance to Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance.
  • Manage external engineering firms and vendors as necessary.
  • Provide support to the annual capital planning process, including development and management of the capital program for an operating department.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement and Vertical Start-up Tools as needed.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers in the plant.
  • Actively participate in the Project Engineering Community (PECOM).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience.
  • 6+ years related experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology, including complexities of products, equipment, and costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence individuals at different levels of the organization.
  • Experience leading complex capital projects with many different stakeholders.
