About The Position

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization focused on building and advancing the technological backbone for Disney’s media business. The team combines technology with creativity to develop world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive innovation and scalability. Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the technical and operational functions that drive the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes managing Disney’s media supply chain, storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, and network transmission. The team also serves as a key collaboration point between Product & Technology and Disney’s regional business teams in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM. The role involves building global products, platforms, and tools that deliver and monetize Disney’s content, support its businesses, and reflect the company's innovative spirit. The Senior Software Engineer will join the Content Platform Engineering team, focusing on building and enhancing platform capabilities, with a strong emphasis on the existing Ordering platform and workflows. This team develops and manages a suite of products and services crucial for Disney’s media supply chain, supporting content delivery for brands like Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel, and Star Wars. The engineer will be responsible for designing and developing backend solutions in a dynamic environment, collaborating with product managers and team leads to deliver scalable and robust products. Close collaboration with peers in a cross-functional environment is expected to ensure alignment with business initiatives within the digital media supply chain supporting Disney’s TV, broadcast, theatrical, and direct-to-consumer lines of business.

Requirements

• 5+ years relevant industry experience
• Proficiency building backend services with Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot and NodeJS (TypeScript preferred) programming
• Experience working with REST APIs for building and consuming web services.
• Extensive experience with cloud native technologies such as AWS EC2, Fargate, and CloudFront
• Experience with frontend web development technologies and principles
• Experience with a wide range of data store technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Postgres, and DynamoDB
• Experience with event streaming and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, SNS/SQS)
• Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Docker, Gitlab-CI, and Cloud formation
• Expertise with full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc
• Solid understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures.
• Ability to research, learn, assess, and evangelize new technologies
• Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology
• Team player with strong communications skills and attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
