About the position

The Sr. Principal Computational Statistician at Lilly is responsible for coordinating and managing the development, support, and maintenance of R functions, SAS Macros, and tools/apps to support clinical development standards. This role focuses on supervising the global implementation of Analysis Results Datasets (ARDS) and Tables, Figures, and Listings (TFL) standards, ensuring consistency and reusability in coding strategies, and providing technical leadership across the clinical trial dataflow.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage development, support, and maintenance of R functions, SAS Macros, and tools/apps.
  • Supervise the global implementation of ARDS and TFL standards.
  • Influence and define core and therapeutic area standards for broader reusability.
  • Guide and develop coding strategy for implementing ARDS and TFL standards with R and SAS.
  • Develop comprehensive tools to facilitate data flow in clinical development.
  • Provide technical leadership for statistical standards across clinical trial dataflow.
  • Select statistical methods for data analysis and justify R package choices.
  • Conduct peer review of work products from statistical colleagues.
  • Develop standards for transformations of source data into analysis datasets.
  • Drive strategy and resourcing in conjunction with departmental needs.
  • Assist or respond to regulatory queries in collaboration with statistical colleagues.
  • Engage with external committees to influence industry standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or above in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Computer Science-related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in clinical data management, data standards, IT, or statistics.
  • Proficiency in both R and SAS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in implementing pharmaceutical industry standards such as ICH guidelines, SDTM, ADaM, ARS, CDISC, CDASH.
  • Proficiency in other statistical programming languages/software such as WinBUGS, Python, Spotfire.
  • Interpersonal/teamwork skills for effective interactions.
  • Experience in promoting standard methodologies related to building reusable code.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and attention to detail.
