About The Position

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Sr. Medical Office Coordinator for the Neuromuscular Department in the School of Medicine. This role will coordinate the medical offices for five providers of the Neuromuscular Division, including coordination for the Peripheral Nerve Center and ALS specialty clinics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Three years progressively responsible medical office experience.
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Proofreading skills required.

  • Experience in the Johns Hopkins system strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate medical offices, including scheduling patients for outpatient clinics and inpatient hospitalizations.
  • Prepare patient charts, coordinate and call in prescriptions.
  • Distribute clinic notes to referring physicians and patients.
  • Attend clinics with physicians to assist with room coordination, patient paperwork, weighing patients, registering patients for testing, coordinating follow-up appointments and calls for results.
  • Provide patients with appropriate prescriptions and reading materials.
  • Serve as referral coordinator for the Peripheral Nerve Center, receiving, logging, reviewing, assigning, and distributing multiple patient records to the appropriate Neurologist.
  • Answer multiple phone lines, triage phone calls and messages, check voice mail.
  • Schedule administrative calendars, transcribe dictations, make travel arrangements, submit reimbursements, and pay bills for doctors, lab staff, and the office.
  • Assist visitors, guests, and faculty as needed.
  • Assist neuromuscular fellows with needs such as ordering lab coats and supplies.
  • Coordinate weekly Neuromuscular Conferences by ordering lunches and paying bills.
  • Coordinate paperless meetings and serve as the main point of contact for questions and concerns about the process.
  • Routinely audit the paperless process and report inaccuracies, changes, and suggestions to improve the process for ease, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Manage the Neuromuscular database, which tracks patients, diagnoses, and completed tests.
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with the Administrative Manager.
