As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Data Center Mechanical & Controls Specialist to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights. Senior Data Center Mechanical & Controls Specialist:  As a key member of the facility operations team, the Senior Data Center Mechanical & Controls Specialist will play a vital role as the expert in mechanical system technical operations and ensuring the reliability and quality of the Building Management System (BMS). The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and equipment functionality, taking on responsibilities that include procedure-based mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, training, and overseeing projects, and understating site integrated controls systems. The Senior Data Center Mechanical & Controls Specialist should bring expertise in various technologies, encompassing chiller systems, evaporative cooling, DX cooling, water distribution and treatment, emergency diesel generators, and fire suppression systems. Additionally, a working knowledge of building automation systems and electrical distribution is essential for this role.   • Serve as an onsite technical resource of mechanical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operation
  • Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between the local facility team and applicable local and global teams
  • Develop and keep up to date on all site Mechanical related procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, and Drills. All documentation should be consistent with current client standards
  • Plan resource, author or approve work procedures to cover mechanical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational risk
  • Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
  • Oversee mechanical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems comply with best practices, including change control processes
  • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects & maintenance activity
  • Lead and/or participate in root-cause analysis activities in area of expertise
  • Provide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross functional teams on mechanical equipment, systems, procedures, and changes to include mechanical/fire & life safety/industrial water equipment/systems and procedures
  • Provide feedback on global mechanical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvements
  • Take accountabilities for all BMS changes and enhancements globally, ensuring alignment with data center operations 
  • Follow standards for safe work practices concerning BMS and SCADA system practices 
  • Diagnose and rectify complex control system malfunctions, demonstrating proficiency in various electronic or digital control systems 
  • Troubleshoot and repair controls hardware, including controllers, relays, measurement devices, and actuators, in collaboration with mechanical and electrical device systems 
  • Analyze operating equipment data for efficiency improvements, monitoring and adjusting building systems for optimal performance 
  • Supervise control vendors, overseeing system configurations and component upgrades to support site operations. 
  • Ensure the integrity of system configurations and component upgrades, adhering to best practices and change control processes. 
  • Oversee all system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are following best practices, including change control processes
  • Over 7 years of pertinent experience in the mechanical industry or at the mechanical trade level with experience in building controls and monitoring.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field, coupled with at least 3 years of relevant mechanical industry experience, will be considered as an alternative to the requirement for 7+ years of mechanical industry experience.
  • Proficient in critical environments with a track record of success.
  • Able to read and understand electrical and mechanical manuals, CAD drawings, and blueprints  
  • Good written technical proficiency to support the creation and revision of process documentation (MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs) 
  • Extensive experience in understanding mechanical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of trend charts and refrigeration cycles.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of mechanical equipment and systems, specializing in mechanical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction.
  • Familiarity with critical facility operations, including experience or comprehension of procedure-based work.
  • Proficient in electrical, controls, and fire/life safety systems.
  • Proven experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Background in the data center sector
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards
  • Possession of a Trade Certification or state license in Mechanical (HVAC)
  • PLC experience 
  • Experience with software programming languages 
  • IT/Networking baseline and understanding
