About The Position

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. Job Overview Sitting within the Strategy & Transformation organization within Supply Chain & Operations, this role leads strategic planning and portfolio strategy. The Sr. Manager, Strategic Process partners with commercial, R&D, Supply Chain, and finance leaders to shape long‑range portfolio strategies, evaluate investment priorities, and translate market insights into actionable plans with associated trade-offs. This position plays a critical role in driving sustainable growth, competitive differentiation, margin expansion, and disciplined execution across a complex, global orthopedic portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Generally 8-10 years of progressive experience, or equivalent deep expertise in key areas, including leadership experience in strategy, analytics, operational excellence, project management, or business transformation.
  • Strong project management experience
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end strategic business planning processes
  • Deep understanding of the Orthopaedics business, including field operations and go-to-market (GTM) models
  • Experience in engaging business and technology partners to deliver effective solutions for sophisticated data needs and incorporating long term strategic foresight in data needs and utilization
  • Proven ability defining a strategic vision and translating it into executable strategy.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into simple, workable solutions.
  • Strong communication and influencing with the ability to adjust to the audience across multiple levels (including senior leadership) and geographies is required.
  • High level of personal initiative, ability to function autonomously with self-confidence.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related discipline.
  • Background in management consulting or corporate strategy within a global organization.
  • Prior experience in Commercial, Finance, or Value Stream
  • Prior experience partnering with external vendors or consultants.
  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate insights into clear recommendations.
  • Executive‑level communication and presentation capabilities.
  • PMP, FPX, or similar project management certification preferred.
  • Additional languages a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the orchestration of franchise and portfolio strategy development activities, partnering closely with business and functional leaders to deliver actionable outputs, including long‑range portfolio plans (LRPP).
  • Understand the critical portfolio changes and moves and the implications for the business including profitability & cashflow
  • Responsible for the driving process integration and handoffs in key areas such as LRFP, LRPP, Strategic Capacity Management, and IBP
  • Build strong relationships and act as a bridge between Supply Chain and Commercial Marketing, Commercial Finance, Platform Leadership, and external stakeholders to gather inputs, understand critical portfolio changes and align priorities.
  • Develop and present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and cross‑functional governance forums.
  • Drive alignment between global strategy and regional execution, ensuring priorities translate into measurable outcomes.
  • Support annual strategic planning, operating plan, and budget cycles for assigned franchises.
  • Track performance against strategic objectives and identify corrective actions as needed.
