About the position

The Senior Manager of Programs, Aviation will lead a team of Program Managers responsible for overseeing and executing all activities related to the Aviation vertical. This role encompasses product delivery, quality assurance, cost and scope management, scheduling, risk management, and ensuring revenue realization throughout the lifecycle of various programs and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Program Management Aviation team, providing direction, training, and coaching to direct reports and colleagues.
  • Ensure all contract requirement deliverables are met, including design, testing, installation, and training elements.
  • Work directly with Key Government Representatives and Prime Contractors to ensure program compliance and manage funding requests and contract modifications.
  • Develop and manage a Program Management plan, including scope definition, cost and risk planning, and procurement.
  • Conduct risk assessments of program deliverables and take action to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor program readiness and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
  • Assist Business Development and Sales by conducting feasibility analyses of potential programs.
  • Analyze and respond to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs according to program acceptance criteria.
  • Identify business development opportunities and support product management efforts.
  • Report program status to stakeholders and prepare periodic status reports and Program Management Reviews.
  • Benchmark program management approaches with external customers and promote best practices within the organization.
  • Create effective business communications, including technical proposals and presentations.
  • Comply with U.S. export control and security regulations and promote legal compliance and company policies.

Requirements

  • BS or BA degree in related technology or business management.
  • 10 or more years of program/project management experience; 5 or more years managing a team.
  • Experience managing a cross-functional team indirectly.
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Understanding of global business and U.S. government business.
  • Ability to implement and lead program teams using company or industry standards for program management.
  • Experience in obtaining permits, licenses, and certifications for contract requirements.
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Previous experience in hardware programs and delivery of equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP accreditation preferred.
  • Experience working on U.S. government contracts and/or with the TSA.
  • Working knowledge of financial concepts related to program management, such as ROI and earned value management.
