About The Position

This role contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner. The engineer will create and edit models and drawings using SolidWorks, and create/edit BOMs and reference materials using SAP software. They will provide system and component analysis using FEA/SolidWorks software, and design various components and assemblies. The position involves assisting lab and production personnel with hands-on manufacture, assembly, and inspection of new/revised products (prototypes and first articles). Adherence to company revision control practices and ISO processes is required. The role involves interpreting specific system and product design requirements to ensure conformance to functional, customer, and operations/manufacturing criteria. Additionally, the engineer will research, develop, specify, and test materials, methods, and/or processes to enhance product quality, serviceability, and profit. This includes interfacing internally with all facility associates, management, and staff, and externally with customers and/or vendors for information exchange. The engineer will provide engineering program/project technical support to both internal and external customers and communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel, customers, and vendors. The role supports, communicates, reinforces, and defends the mission, values, and culture of the organization, and adheres to all quality and safety standards. The engineer will also support other projects and perform duties as assigned. Secondary responsibilities may include participation in lean/six sigma/quality/safety initiatives as required. This position does not have direct reports but may be asked to work with or instruct others on projects as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience.
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering Field. (In lieu of degree, relevant work experience demonstrating the required job skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the job)
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Ability to work from verbal and written instructions.
  • Goal oriented and team focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner.
  • Product development experience- concept to production release.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Sheetmetal background.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Routinely punctual.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to problem solve with little information.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize work assignments, and multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to offer their own opinions and commentaries while being flexible and responsive to constructive feedback by managers and peers.
  • Application of technical principles/techniques from established practices, as well as a functional knowledge/understanding of mechanical engineering processes, techniques, and practices to quickly/accurately perceive the fit, form, function, and manufacturability of design.
  • Thorough, functional knowledge and understanding of Computer Aided Design application principles.
  • SolidWorks experience required.
  • PC-based computer experience including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential.
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of industry standards (ISO, etc.) and codes.
  • Strong, proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong, proven problem solving and analytical skills.
