About the position
The Sr Data Modeler at Blue Cross NC is responsible for designing, implementing, and documenting complex data architecture and data modeling solutions that support enterprise data management, business intelligence, machine learning, and data science. This role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and the application of advanced data modeling techniques to improve healthcare outcomes. The position involves leading and mentoring other data modelers, ensuring adherence to enterprise standards, and contributing to the overall data governance strategy.
Responsibilities
- Creates fully attributed and documented conceptual, logical, and physical models.
- Analyzes data to verify business requirements and design data models.
- Participates in project-specific architectural working groups to provide expertise in modeling.
- Documents data flows from origination and acquisition points and oversees the expansion of existing data architecture.
- Generates first cut physical model DDL and SQL for views for implementation by the DBA.
- Creates, validates, and updates the data dictionary by coordinating with the data governance team and business users.
- Facilitates model review sessions and revises data modeling standards and guidelines for different data stores.
- Provides expert knowledge to other data modelers and reviews their work to ensure it meets enterprise standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
- 5+ years of experience in a related field, or 7+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience leading other data modelers in a successful full life-cycle enterprise data warehousing effort.
- Knowledge of healthcare data and experience with Data Vault Modeling and Snowflake platform.
- Exposure to HL7 FHIR profiles and resources for mapping enterprise data to appropriate FHIR resources.
- Working knowledge of ERStudio or similar data modeling tool.
- Experience working with JSON.
