The Senior Reporting Analyst (Sr Business Control Specialist) will be accountable for the design, analysis, execution, and overall management of a reporting portfolio that consists of both existing and new requests. Analyst will need to approach and challenge existing manual processes with philosophy of mitigating risk and improving operational efficiency. Preferred Controls, Operations, and Supervision reporting team and position focuses on various elements of the Preferred business, directly supporting the overall Operations, Controls and Supervision organization, associated processes across Consumer Banking, Investments and Lending. This job is responsible for driving and executing on internal control discipline and operational excellence within a Line of Business (LOB) or Enterprise Control Function (ECF). Key responsibilities include providing analytical and administrative support for LOB or ECF specific processes and tools to drive adherence to enterprise-wide standards. Job expectations include monitoring and testing controls and implementing quality assurance and quality control processes within the LOB or ECF by evaluating data to help identify, track, and report issues and control improvements for remediation. Other responsibilities will include: The ability to work independently, multi-task, assist partners with complex items and those that require extensive research, while prioritizing his/her workload. Must demonstrate a cooperative and professional work attitude. Manage and improve existing processes to ensure consistency and continuity across the Preferred business. Ability to coordinates all essential work-streams (people/process, controls, business leads and technology) to ensure project / program delivers on time and to the business case. Understand key regulations, processes, and sales practices under which the business operates. Develop strong working partnerships across the organization and work with various LOB partners, LRC, Supervision and other key LOB support partners to manage, develop and execute reporting on risk / business controls. Acts as an ambassador of the risk culture / framework. Detailed Documentation – Procedures and Business Requirements. Must gather and document requirements, interpret business needs against data availability to develop best possible solution. Consider all possible improvement opportunities by identifying gaps and developing controls Support leadership while being able to influence through sound reasoning and solid analytics Understand and speak to the processes and reports that they support Establish and absorb other’s best practices Oversees the design and effectiveness of the risk and control environment to support Client Operational Services and ensure adherence to enterprise-wide standards Executes initiatives by identifying areas of potential testing automation, procedural updates, thematic trends, test script updates, and coaching opportunities to enhance QA program success Supports the overall management of and research required for regulatory exams, internal audits, and other monitoring and inspection reviews and evaluates data and information relevant to inspection metrics to support governance activities for dashboard reporting

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a role accountable for reporting
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (nested/advanced formulas and pivots at a minimum)
  • Ability to write and execute SQL research, source and deliver data from various databases and platforms
  • Aptitude for learning new skills, tools, and processes
  • Problem solving in determining root cause of issues and finding solution to avoid repeat issues
  • Strong analytical skills including awareness of data inaccuracies and solution-focused problem-solving ability
  • Strong time and organizational management; ability to work in fast paced environment and manage changing priorities
  • Act with a sense of urgency without sacrificing quality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Alteryx, CMC Report Building, MicroStrategy, OBI Answers, SAS, SharePoint Dynamic Forms/Designer, Tableau, TOAD and/or Visual Basic for Applications
  • Familiarity with internal data sources including but not limited to EdgeMine, DQAR, MIDAS, SDP and The W
  • Project Planning/Management
  • Leadership experience
  • Knowledge of brokerage industry, internal brokerage policies and procedures and mitigation strategies
  • Prior experience within Consumer Investments
  • Series 7 preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the design and effectiveness of the risk and control environment to support Client Operational Services and ensure adherence to enterprise-wide standards
  • Supports the monitoring and testing of controls by evaluating data to identify issues and control improvements for remediation
  • Implements optimized controls and enhanced Quality Assurance (QA) practices to support business continuity efforts
  • Conducts and coordinates quality inspection reviews to enhance employee performance and control effectiveness
