About the position

The Sr. Benefits Analyst II at Tandem Diabetes Care plays a crucial role in supporting the company's health and welfare benefit plans, both domestically and internationally. This position involves evaluating, administering, and maintaining self-funded health plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with the HR team and brokers to enhance employee benefits programs. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while fostering a culture of innovation and support for employees living with diabetes.

Responsibilities

  • Support all company-wide health and welfare benefit plans and programs.
  • Evaluate, administer, and maintain the Company's self-funded health plans.
  • Review and analyze benefit plan renewals and assess recommendations.
  • Monitor claims experience throughout the year in preparation for annual renewal of all benefits.
  • Prepare monthly aggregated reporting for broker on enrollment details, fees, and claims paid.
  • Manage the completion of claims audits every three years or as needed.
  • Responsible for annual Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting of health plans and health coverage.
  • Manage responsibilities associated with plan compliance and plan audit requirements.
  • Partner with HR Benefits team and broker to ensure accuracy of benefit plan documents and communications.
  • Lead all plan audits, statutory filings, and discrimination testing with Plan Administrator.
  • Participate in the development, design, implementation, and communication of employee benefit programs.
  • Lead benefits education activities and events.
  • Work closely with broker to conduct required trainings on HIPAA policies.
  • Maintain employee benefit enrollment data within HRIS/benefits system.
  • Monitor weekly error reports from carriers and resolve enrollment data issues.
  • Conduct monthly billing reconciliation of all benefits plans.
  • Maintain new hire benefits onboarding training and offboarding activities.
  • Introduce efficient ways to address benefit questions and concerns.
  • Responsible for all COBRA and Flex Plan programs/processes.
  • Provide guidance with leave programs in accordance with State and Federal laws.
  • Oversee projects to ensure alignment with department goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and FMLA/CFRA regulations.
  • Experience administering self-funded health plans preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on reporting, especially in Excel.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HR Certificate preferred.
  • 7-8 years' relevant benefits administration experience.
  • Experience with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA/CFRA regulations.
