About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; preparing accurate financial reporting; maintaining strong internal controls; and partnering across the business to resolve accounting issues and improve processes. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Accounting Degree
  • At least 7 years of sales & use tax and income tax experience
  • 2 years of financial accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly and annual state sales and use tax and excise tax returns.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of tax accounts and support tax accruals, year-end estimates, and related financial reporting activities.
  • Manage state and local tax registrations, renewals, certifications, and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate tax records, including exemption certificates, direct pay permits, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate impacts to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Research direct and indirect tax issues, prepare written analyses, and recommend practical compliance solutions.
  • Review contracts and confirmations to identify tax implications and ensure appropriate compliance actions are taken.
  • Respond to tax notices, prepare correspondence with tax authorities, and coordinate with state and local agencies as needed.
  • Plan for and manage tax audits by working with external auditors, advisors, internal tax teams, and business partners.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax processes, reporting, and automation.
  • Provide guidance to commercial, settlement, accounting, and administrative teams on tax-related matters.
  • Supervise, coach, and review the work of two Senior Tax Analysts to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close activities, reconciliations, and audit requests as needed.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned, including limited travel when required.
