Sr. Accountant, Construction - HYBRID

About the position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Accountant to work in Miami, FL. The Accountant 3 maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. This position safeguards the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. The Accountant 3 (H) is responsible for applying principles of accounting to manage project accounts for UHealth Facilities Operations & Planning, with a primary focus on Integrated Project Delivery capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
• Acts as a liaison among vendors, contractors, purchasing, accounts payable, client financial representatives, and project managers to ensure accurate financial activities.
• Processes and verifies project-related invoices, ensuring proper approval, accuracy, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Reviews purchase orders and change orders for compliance and accuracy, confirming all necessary approvals and documentation.
• Conducts regular meetings with project managers to review financials, budgets, and expenditures.
• Reconciles project accounts, ensuring accurate transaction recording and resolution of discrepancies.
• Prepares detailed financial reconciliation reports, presenting findings and recommendations to management.
• Ensures compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements in project financial activities.
• Manages journal entries, ensuring accuracy across accounting periods and resolving discrepancies.
• Generates, analyzes, and presents financial reports on project performance, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
• Supports internal and external audits related to project finances, maintaining proper documentation and archiving.
• Reviews financial processes regularly and provides support to achieve organizational financial objectives.
• Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational financial goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; construction accounting preferred.
