About The Position

Under the direction of the Sports Director, the sport trainer will carry out the tasks necessary for smooth operation of the sports department. This person must possess advanced knowledge, fundamentals and development of a specific sport. Must acquire communication skills and the ability to design personalized drills to exemplify the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Requirements

Must possess a high level of interest in the sport, either by playing or coaching at the club, high school or college level for numerous years.
Must possess the necessary skills to train clients to improve in their sport.
Great knowledge of rules, development, skills and fundamentals.
Must have background knowledge of basic, intermediate and advanced drills to tailor personalized development programs for all populations.
CPR/FA certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Providing a safe environment for the member.
Ensuring the general appearance and cleanliness of the facilities.
Ensuring all participants are using the facilities correctly.
Helping participants by answering questions to the best of your ability and within your scope of practice.
Building effective, authentic relationships with members; helping members connect with each other and the YMCA.
Completing and filling out all required paperwork appropriately.
Educating members on your specific sports and skills.
Alerting the coordinator or director if any problems occur.
Returning any calls left to make appointments and then notifying the director to reserve the facilities and inventory that are needed.
Providing exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, always maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional conduct.
Responding to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
Performing all other duties as requested.
