Requirements

  • A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current licensure in Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Georgia.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Speech-Language Pathology experience preferred.
  • Previous dysphagia experience in inpatient rehab, SNF, or acute care is preferred.
  • Previous MBSS/FEES experience ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers comprehensive clinical services to patients, including testing, analysis, and evaluation of seriously ill patients or those with complex medical problems.
  • Formulates treatment plans consistent with patient needs.
  • Assists in supervising staff and students.
  • Develops in-service training programs for continuing staff development.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and debris-free work area.
  • Communicates regularly with the patient care team, patient, family members, and others involved in patient care.
  • Responds to requests for professional information or advice and refers complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Instructs and trains patients and families regarding pertinent aspects of patient care.
  • Assesses patients to provide a diagnosis and identify problems.
  • Plans treatment schedules to ensure optimal use of staff and equipment.
  • Plans, develops, and implements result-oriented treatment plans responsive to individualized patient needs with clear, measurable goals.
  • Modifies treatment plans according to patient responses.
  • Provides direct patient care and performs specialized treatments.
  • Collaborates with the patient care team and uses community resources for continued care, support, and follow-up after discharge.
  • Recommends and procures appropriate equipment.
  • Works with the manager to formulate a plan for professional development.
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Follows established protocols for documentation specific to the program/setting.
  • Accurately records daily charges for services rendered.
  • Practices organizational and universal standards for sterile technique and infection control.
  • Conducts in-service programs and provides training to other staff.
  • Serves as a clinical instructor to students.
  • Attends team conferences to promote an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Works cooperatively with other team members to maintain consistency in service provision.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
