Requirements

A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Current licensure in Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Georgia.
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

One year of Speech-Language Pathology experience preferred.
Previous dysphagia experience in inpatient rehab, SNF, or acute care is preferred.
Previous MBSS/FEES experience ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

Administers comprehensive clinical services to patients, including testing, analysis, and evaluation of seriously ill patients or those with complex medical problems.
Formulates treatment plans consistent with patient needs.
Assists in supervising staff and students.
Develops in-service training programs for continuing staff development.
Maintains an inventory of supplies and ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Maintains a clean and debris-free work area.
Communicates regularly with the patient care team, patient, family members, and others involved in patient care.
Responds to requests for professional information or advice and refers complex matters to appropriate staff.
Instructs and trains patients and families regarding pertinent aspects of patient care.
Assesses patients to provide a diagnosis and identify problems.
Plans treatment schedules to ensure optimal use of staff and equipment.
Plans, develops, and implements result-oriented treatment plans responsive to individualized patient needs with clear, measurable goals.
Modifies treatment plans according to patient responses.
Provides direct patient care and performs specialized treatments.
Collaborates with the patient care team and uses community resources for continued care, support, and follow-up after discharge.
Recommends and procures appropriate equipment.
Works with the manager to formulate a plan for professional development.
Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
Follows established protocols for documentation specific to the program/setting.
Accurately records daily charges for services rendered.
Practices organizational and universal standards for sterile technique and infection control.
Conducts in-service programs and provides training to other staff.
Serves as a clinical instructor to students.
Attends team conferences to promote an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
Works cooperatively with other team members to maintain consistency in service provision.
Performs other related duties as required.
